The annual GSMA Mobile World Congress is one of the world’s largest events within the mobile telecommunications industry. It is where some of the greatest phones ever have made their spectacular debut.

Sony Xperia Z6 Preview - Rumors, Specs, Features, Concept, Price, Preorder, and Release Date Info

Yet February 2016 has come and gone. Excited consumers hoping for their first glimpse of the upcoming flagship, the Sony Xperia Z6, were bitterly disappointed. The Japanese giant threw a curve-ball and released a completely new range of phones, the X-series.

As if to make matters worse, Sony declared that they would not be releasing the Xperia Z6 at the IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin either. Does this mean the death of a legendary phone? Will die-hard fans never get to see the Sony Xperia Z6? Never say never, says Sony.

Best Smartphone of 2016 – Fierce Competition

In a fiercely contested arena, where market share means everything, the Sony Xperia Z6 is expected to go head to head with both the Samsung Galaxy S7 as well as the iPhone 7. These three handsets will compete for the prestigious title of Best Smartphone of 2016.

Although Samsung has released the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge, they have kept quiet as to the release date of the S7 Active. Similarly, the launch of the iPhone 7, originally scheduled for March, has been postponed to September. What is going on and why these delays?

It’s all about the operating system!

We strongly suspect that the reasoning behind the delays has to do with the launch of Android 6.1 Marshmallow. Both the Sony Xperia Z5 as well as the Samsung Galaxy S7 are running Android 6.0. The launch of 6.1 Marshmallow is only scheduled for June 2016.

Sony Xperia Z6 Operating System Rumors

The Android upgrade to 6.1 is expected to bring with it split screen functionality and improved app permissions. By postponing their respective launches, Samsung and Sony will be able to capitalize on the new operating system. It will allow for Apple to make the necessary changes to the iPhone IOS operating system so as to compete effectively with the Sony Xperia Z6 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.

Another suspicion of ours deals with the late unveiling of the Xperia Z5. The Z5 was only released late in the last quarter of 2015. It would not make sense for Sony to release a second flagship so hot on its heels. If our theories prove to be correct, then there is hope for the Sony Xperia Z6 after all!

Sony Xperia Z6 Design Rumors

Sony Xperia Z6 Rumors

It is doubtful that there will be any major changes in the overall design of the Z6. Sony may be able to shave it down to a slightly thinner version of the Z5. How much thinner is purely conjecture but, given that the Z5 is already a super-slim handset, anything more svelte could compromise durability.

Sony Xperia Z6 Ram Memory Rumors

We expect any real changes from the Z5 to the Xperia Z6 will come from within. The Z5 runs on 3GB RAM. This could be upgraded to 4GB though it is probable internal memory will remain at 32GB.

Sony Xperia Z6 Resolution Rumors

[AdSense-A]When it comes to resolution, for Sony to improve on the Z5’s 4K screen would mean they really are pushing the envelope. The same could be said for their 23 MP rear facing camera. If changes are going to be under the hood, advances to the camera would come in the form of three-way electronic image stabilization and high-speed hybrid auto-focus.

Sony Xperia Z6 Processor Rumors

We are reluctant to speculate as to what processor the Xperia Z6 will be equipped with. The Z6 mini may be powered by a Snapdragon 620 chip while the more powerful Snapdragon 820 could be used in the Xperia Z6 Plus and Z6 Ultra versions. Then again, with the rapid improvements made in electronic chip technology, our assumptions may be completely wrong.

In order to retain good standing among discerning consumers, Sony will have to release a handset to satisfy demand sooner rather than later. Their X-series may be excellent phones, but they don’t quite live up to expectations. When the new phone will be unveiled, only time will tell. Whenever that may be, be sure to follow us for sneak previews and hot off the press information.

Xperia Z6, Z6 Premium, & Z6 Compact Compared – Display, Battery, Hardware, and Software

It’s all-but confirmed, and incase you missed it there will be three variants of the upcoming Sony Xperia Z6. The Z6 will be Sony’s latest take on the upcoming flagship that is expected to be one of the best Android smartphones in 2016, and we have all the reasons why.

This is the blog to check if you’d like to see the Xperia Z6, Z6 Premium and Z6 Compact compared, and below you’ll just that. We’ll be going over the major differences between all three variants of the Z6 flagship released by Sony in 2016 including display specs, battery life, hardware, and software.

Xperia Z6, Z6 Premium, & Z6 Compact Compared - Display, Battery, Hardware, and Software

Xperia Z6, Z6 Premium, & Z6 Compact Display

The biggest difference that is noticeable between the Xperia Z6, Z6 Premium and Z6 Compact are the displays. Starting with the Compact, we have a 4.6 inch display with a 720P resolution. The Xperia Z6 on the other hand has a Full HD 5.0 inch display. Finally, the Z6 Premium has a full 4K 5.5 inch display.

What’s great is that these display sizes have been split out perfectly so that there is a perfect size for everybody.

Xperia Z6, Z6 Premium, & Z6 Compact Battery Life

Along with the display increases comes a increase in battery life in the Xperia Z6, Z6 Premium and Z6 Compact. The Compact has the smallest battery life – we’re expecting to see something that’s just under 3,000mAh. The Xperia Z6 will probably have a 3,200mAh battery whilst the Xperia Z6 Premium is expected to have a 3,500mAh or 4,000mAh battery.

Xperia Z6, Z6 Premium, & Z6 Compact Hardware

All three devices will come with a Snapdragon 820 and the same camera sensor. Differences will be made in the RAM and storage departments though. Unfortunately details are not 100% confirmed at this point, so we’ve listed possible specs below.

Xperia Z6 Compact: 2GB or 3GB RAM. Likely 32GB internal storage with microSD.

Xperia Z6: 3GB or 4GB RAM.  Likely 32GB internal storage with microSD.

Xperia Z6 Premium: 3GB or 4GB RAM.  Likely 32GB internal storage with microSD.

Xperia Z6, Z6 Premium, & Z6 Compact Software

All of the new Xperia Z6 smartphones will come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the latest Xperia UI. The software experience will be extremely similar between all three handsets. It’s unlikely there will be any differences between software, but there is a small chance for additional features on the Premium.

Sony Xperia Z6 Vs the Competition in 2016 – Samsung, Apple, and LG

Each and every year, the talk of the town begins to circulate on the upcoming handsets and what’s expected in 2016 will once again show-off what the biggest players in the smartphone industry are all about. Sony will once again go head-to-head with the competition as Samsung, Apple, and LG are expected to be the biggest contenders. As we look towards what 2016 has to offer, we take a closer look at the Xperia Z6 versus everyone else.

The best way to gauge how much the Z6 will be worth it to you is to put the Sony Xperia Z6 vs the competition in 2016. In this article we will be putting the Z6 up against three of the biggest manufacturers in 2016.

Sony Xperia Z6 Vs the Competition in 2016 - Samsung, Apple, and LG

Sony Xperia Z6 Versus Samsung

Samsung will be releasing the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge in 2016. The Xperia Z6 will be rivalling it. Both Sony and Samsung will be using the latest internal hardware in the Xperia Z6 and the Galaxy S7 respectively, so expect to see fairly similar results in terms of hardware performance.

The difference between the devices lies in a few areas. Firstly, build design – would you prefer the more premium style of the S7 or would you go for the more minimalistic, more durable design of the Xperia Z6? The Cameras on the Z6 and the S7 will also be points for discussion. Finally, the displays on both devices will be worth comparing. The Z6 Premium will most likely have the best display on the market, but what happens when you compare the standard Z6 with the standard S7?

Sony Xperia Z6 Versus Apple

Comparing Sony and Apple is pretty difficult because there’s just so much different between each one. Choosing between the iPhone 7 and the Sony Xperia Z6 will come down to preference in almost every category. The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus will offer you two different size variants, as will the Z6 Premium, Z6 and Z6 Compact.

The biggest comparison point is the operating system though. Are you more of an Android fan, or do you prefer Apple? Remember that Sony’s big part in the videogames industry mean that the Xperia Z6 has an advantage over all other smartphones in terms of gaming.

Sony Xperia Z6 Versus LG

LG developed one of the most unique builds for their smartphones in 2015 and it’s likely LG will stand out once again in 2016. If the LG G5 adopts the same style as the LG V10, we’re looking at seeing a rugged device with microSD card capabilities, removable battery, a secondary notification display and a whole range of other neat hardware features that make it stand out from the Sony Xperia Z6.

The Sony Xperia Z6 also has fewer software features than the LG, and LG was crowned for having the best smartphone camera in 2015 too, although there are a few areas where Sony may win.

Sony Xperia Z6 Compact Vs iPhone 6S

Sony and Apple have been launching some of the most innovative handsets for years now, and the next generation in the famed Xperia and iPhone series are about to be unleashed. Both the Xperia Z6 Compact and the iPhone 6s will soon become two of the hottest smartphones on the market, and we have the latest details head-to-head.

In the following Sony Xperia Z6 Compact vs iPhone 6S review, we pit both handsets against each other while taking a a closer look at the display, build, and software. Whilst the Compact may be seen as a “low end device,” this is far from the truth. In fact, the Compact still has high end specs, despite it’s lower display size and cheaper price point. In fact, in terms of display size, the Compact is actually the closest Xperia Z6 variant to the iPhone 6S.

Sony Xperia Z6 Compact Vs iPhone 6S

Sony Xperia Z6 Compact Vs iPhone 6S Display

On the Sony Xperia Z6 Compact you’ll find a 4.6 inch display which has a resolution of 720 x 1280 – this isn’t full HD but it’s still within the range of pixels that would deem it a ‘retina’ display on the iPhone. The iPhone 6S on the other hand has a 4.7 inch display with a resolution of 750 x 1334.

In terms of pixel density, the iPhone 6S is sitting at 326ppi, whilst the Xperia Z6 Compact is using a display with 323ppi. It’s safe to say that the displays on both the Sony Xperia Z6 Compact and the iPhone 6S are very similar.

Sony Xperia Z6 Compact Vs iPhone 6S Build

What about the build quality of the two devices? As the flagship for Apple, unsurprisingly the iPhone 6S has the sleeker build design out of the two. The curves and smooth edges on the iPhone 6S definitely stand out when compared to the blockier Xperia Z6 Compact. There’s no denying it – the iPhone 6S build design beats out the Xperia Z6 Compact – it looks nicer and itt feels nicer in the hand.

Sony Xperia Z6 Compact Vs iPhone 6S Software

The software on both the Sony Xperia Z6 Compact and the iPhone 6S are very different from one another. There are plenty of features on both sides of the fence and choosing a winner between the two is almost impossible. The Apple vs Android battle is ongoing, like it has been for years, and it really comes down to personal preference. What do you prefer in your smartphone?

Sony Xperia Z6 Premium Vs iPhone 6S Plus

The concept of the Phablet has taken off in recent years, and two of the biggest smartphone manufacturers are about to go head-to-head once the Xperia Z6 Premium launches. Both Sony and Apple have a lot to prove around the world with huge competition from other manufacturers looking to push the envelope. With the Sony’s new addition to the Xperia family and the iPhone 6s from Apple becoming highly-regarded, it’ll be interesting to see how the two will compare.

In this article, we will be comparing the two of the hottest Phablets in this Sony Xperia Z6 Premium vs iPhone 6S Plus review. Both of these smartphones are going to be the very best that Sony and Apple will be offering for first half of 2016, so it’s going to be a true contest between the two.

Sony Xperia Z6 Premium Vs iPhone 6S Plus

Sony Xperia Z6 Premium Vs iPhone 6S Plus Build Quality

Firstly, we’d like to touch on build quality. This area is perhaps the most immediate thing you’ll notice about the Sony Xperia Z6 Premium and the iPhone 6S Plus. Both devices have a very slim build – their edges are curved and for the most part their design actually looks quite similar. The Sony Xperia Z6 Premium does have a slightly bulkier form factor but it’s no way near as noticeable as it was on previous Xperia smartphones.

The button placement and fingerprint sensor location are perhaps the biggest changes between the Sony Xperia Z6 Premium and the iPhone 6S Plus. The fingerprint sensor on the iPhone 6S Plus is on the home button, for example. The fingerprint sensor on the Xperia Z6 Premium is on the side of the device, right in the center – this makes it incredibly easy to reach with your thumb as it’s usually very close to where the average smartphone user would place his or her thumb.

Sony Xperia Z6 Premium Vs iPhone 6S Plus Software

The biggest point of comparison between the two smartphones featured in this article is of course the software. The Sony Xperia Z6 Premium will come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which comes with new optimizations, better battery saving features and better tools for managing apps and app permissions.

iOS on the other hand has already had app permission tools for a while now and iOS has long been the more optimized mobile OS, both for performance and battery saving. With that being said, Android isn’t that far behind, and there’s no doubt that Android batteries have larger capacities, better processors and more RAM. Despite this though, performance on the Android side of the fence is not that much better than the iPhone 6S Plus, and it’s certainly not very easy to gauge without using benchmarks.

Online time will tell how the two stack up in the eyes of consumers, but it won’t be long until we get our first look at the Z6 Premium. Giving you an idea of things to come, be sure to get the latest on the Xperia Z6 launch event info including dates and locations.
